Heading into the 4th match of the tournament SCC Masters U13 team was confident that they will put up a fighting performance against Kista Cricket Club. Knowing they had few big boys who looked proper U15 players.
Choosing to field 1st, we started pretty good actually. Ayush Saha & Bhavik bowled tight line to keep them quiet. Later Yaksh & Amogh ensure the pressure is on till powerplay. Pressure resulted in wickets, Yaksh and Bhavik broke through the opening pair. Amogh and Aaryaman took some sensational catches. Our slow bowling trick worked on the opposition big boys who fell for the trap of hitting big. At 10 overs we were able to restrict the opposition to 54 runs. Later Aditya too joined the wickets party. Our team was too good in the field as a result we got 3 run outs (2 direct hits). Some fantastic work from Advay, Jay, Bhavik, Manu, Sushruth, Vivaan, Vatsal & Aarav in the field. Though the big boys scored in the later part of the innings to take the score to 166.
Chasing 166 our openers got out cheaply, but again Ayush & Amogh steadied the innings. Facing the the raw pace & taking body blows they fought the opening pace burst of opposition bowlers and started scoring by hitting some glorious drives and pull. Their 71 run partnership helped oppositionto panic. After Amogh got out Aditya took the attack forward hitting some crucial boundaries at the right time. Yaksh took over from Ayush & ensured a steady hand to Aditya. Together they had 90 runs partnership till the end. Knowing the match is slipping from the hands the opposition came with full force of pace attack but there was no looking back. It was shear pleasure to watch the pace attack being bashed by 2 kids who were smaller in size, power and age. Not just these 2 but the entire U13 SCC team!!! Their GUTS to stands against big boys & fighting spirit had brought them the GLORY today....what a spirited performance!!!
After hitting the winning boundary in 19th over itself there was no limit to celebration. The team, the parents all ran on the pitch to celebrate the victory of these kids...
GUTS N GLORY in true sense!!!
Thanks to all Parents who came and supported the team all along...
